Castelli Competizione Bibshort

When designing the Competizione Bib-short, the aim of Castelli was to provide race gear to cyclists on a modest budget. In order to provide race quality bib-shorts to these racers, Castelli included a lot of the same race clothing technology used in their race-level Aero Race bib-short in the design of their new Competizione bib-short. The Vortex fabric, which was also used in their top end Aero Race bib-short, is a very versatile fabric that stretches and rebounds; the bib-short fits perfectly in all on-the-bike positions. Furthermore, the fabric is textured so air flows smoothly over the shorts. The fabric’s mild compression ensures aerodynamics while not restricting movement; in the Competizione a rider never feels constricted in overly tight bib-shorts. The GIRO4 leg gripper is flat and wide to keep the shorts comfortably in place. On the inside of the legs, the Affinity Pro Lycra® fabric is abrasion resistant and fits next to skin. By placing this stretchy, durable fabric on the inner legs, the material withstands any abrasion against the saddle. The shorts have flat lock seams so they won’t rub against skin like traditional seam stitching. In order to provide fast, aerodynamic, and durable bib-shorts, Castelli designers paid close attention to every detail when designing the Competizione. The KISS Air² seat pad keeps you comfortable on 100-mile rides over a mountain top or in fast races that end in a sprint. The seamless layer closest to skin won’t chafe your groin because it feels silky soft and it conforms to the shape of your seat. The padded portion between body and seat is multi-layered giving you the right kind of padding in the right place.
