Castelli’s Alpha Rain or Shine 2 Light Jacket is Castelli’s best jacket for mild, fall and spring riding. Front wind protection, light insulation, breathability, and the ability to repel water have been designed into a jacket with a double layer construction. The two-piece construction has an inner thermal layer and outer wind-blocking layer. Two layers are separated by a space that allows air to circulate: sweat evaporates and a rider’s body can breathe on higher intensity rides. The Alpha warms in cool weather but keeps a rider ventilated so he doesn’t overheat or get laden by a sweaty jacket. At the front and sleeves, the Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper 150 fabric has a three-layered construction that wicks sweat, repels water and blocks wind. The Nano Flex Xtra Dry on back provides extra ventilation to let out body heat and perspiration. To shield against water, the nanotechnology water-repellent finish creates a surface for rain drops to roll off. Cold air won’t seep into the jacket thanks to the high elastic cuffs at wrist that make them flat. Cycling gloves easily pull over the arms. The collar is made with a soft fleece and it covers up your neck comfortably as you are leaned over the bike. At the waist, raw-edge construction lies flat and moves with you as you ride in and out of the saddle.
