In the parts of the body that receive the most pounding from cold wind, the front and shoulders, a lightweight 3-layered material protects with low bulk and low weight. This is a race winter jacket that would work to keep you comfortable without losing the advantages of aerodynamics. The surface is compact and it provides a smooth surface for air flow. The air that circulates through the inner mesh surface absorbs and evaporates sweat and it keeps you from overheating. The middle Windtex membrane blocks wind and water while also circulating air within the jacket. Breathability is a challenge in a winter jacket that protects you from cold weather, but Ale has found the right combination of fabrics in the Krakatoa to protect from the cold and still allow the woman to ride hard and stay comfortable. On the back, thermal fleece fabric is another added feature that insulates and wicks sweat without compromising breathability.
