Castelli’s 100+ years of designing cycling clothing for the best bike racers in the history of bike racing gives credence to their most recent designs in bib-shorts. The Free Aero RC Pro Bib-short is the most comfortable bib-short on the market while also being the fastest. Castelli’s best race bib-short has won three Tour de Frances, three Giro d’Italias, one Vuelta and one Milan San Remo. Every detail has been designed with performance in mind. Dimpled gripper fabric is used on the side of the leg so air flows smoothly over a soft fabric that compresses muscles to increase blood flow and support working muscles. The 38% Lycra® designed into Forza fabric on the inner leg creates a versatile perfect fit. No matter what type of pedal stroke-- time trial, out of the saddle sprint, or in the saddle climbing-- no material will snag or rub against a cycling seat. Of course, much discomfort occurs in the seat areas which is why Castelli uses its best seat pad, the Progetto X² Air seamless. The Progetto X² Air seamless seat pad has a complex design to ensure a cyclist stays comfortable on short, high-intensity races in the summer to long distance endurance base rides in the colder months. The skin layer is made with a soft, ventilated surface that pulls away body moisture and keeps a cyclist’s seat area dry. Complete comfort. The seat pad does this through a four-way stretch, seamless layer that adjusts to the shape of a body in motion. The padding, another necessary feature to ensure complete comfort, changes in thickness depending on where a cyclist needs the most protection. For more protection under the highly sensitive areas, perforated viscous padding is added. By varying the thickness, a rider feels protected without excess bulk. The five panels have been reduced from ten panels for even more comfort. Seamed together with seamless flat stitching, no part of the shorts feels anything less than smooth, soft, and supportive. The raw cut edge that allows more stretch at waist fits multiple body types as a cyclist changes position constantly. The shorts are held in place with the latest version of Castelli’s seamless flat Giro leg gripper that will not chafe skin. The bib-straps are made with minimal material and reinforced yokes to ensure you won’t even notice the straps when you ride your bike. One more feature guaranteeing comfort. Rear mesh pocket has been added at the back for extra storage room and visibility has also been added into the shorts with reflective piping on back of the legs.
