While the wind tunnel testing for maximum aerodynamics has pushed athletes toward racing in a short sleeve tri-top, many triathletes still prefer the coolness and comfort that comes when racing in a sleeveless tri-top. While the Castelli Free Tri 2 Sleeveless Top may lose a few seconds, it is still fast but much more comfortable on the run and cooler in hot weather. The comfort and cooling features may conversely help a triathlete in his performance. The Sleeveless top has the same front aero fabric as is used on Castelli’s fastest Tour de France winning Aero Jersey. The back fabric is one of the most breathable fabrics used in tri clothing. Sweat and heat is pulled out by the porous meshy fabric. For sun protection, the added UPF 16 treatment blocks 94% of UV rays. Two generous pockets give plenty of room to carry the nutrition you may need to keep energized. The top won’t ride up in the swim and it continuously covers the back with the SnapLock fasteners that clip on to Castelli tri shorts. In the run, you can unclip the fasteners to improve mobility and comfort. Ventilation is improved by easily opening the YKK® zipper. Finally, to improve comfort even further, the area around the armhole lies flat making it soft which prevents chafing.
