Castelli Omloop Thermal Bib Short

Cervélo Test Team rider Jeremy Hunt raced in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, the first one-day UCI-level bike race held in Belgium during February. Hunt knew he needed a little more bib short length on his legs because of the cold weather, but he also knew this one-day race was highly competitive and so his body would heat up very quickly. His solution to the dilemma of staying warm but not overheating was to create knee length leg warmers which after a few more years became a hit with the other pro riders. After hearing the cheers that greeted this new short design, Castelli designed the Omloop Thermal Bib Short, a bib short with a new fabric that has a soft raw edge at the back of the knee that won’t cut into skin. The Omloop bib shorts are significantly warmer than a thermal short but the Omloop doesn’t cause you to overheat like a winter ¾ knicker would do. The bib straps are made with mesh, a very breathable fabric that stays dry against the skin. Castelli designed the Omloop with their best chamois pad—the Progetto X2 Air seat pad which is made with two layers: a skin layer and a saddle layer. To add more long distance protection, Viscous comfort inserts are placed between the two layers so the most sensitive parts of the body are protected. The layer closest to the skin is exceptionally soft with a four-way stretch and a microdenier fabric that allows air to flow right through the surface. The fabric adjusts to your body shape, repels water and aids in evaporation so you stay dry. The seamless top is exceptionally comfortable and a o treatment fights away germs. The layer against the seat is the seamless cushioning layer made with multi-density foam placed in the areas you need padding the most. The Omloop Thermal Bib Shorts are the perfect shorts for the rider who rides intensely in cool spring, fall and winter weather.
