Castelli Sanremo 4.0 Speed Suit 2019

When Castelli first introduced the Sanremo Speed Suit in 2011, it was the fastest, most comfortable skin suit in the peloton. Since 2011, Castelli continued to find ways to improve the design. A racer’s performance is directly proportional to his comfort and aerodynamics which is why Castelli has done extensive research on how to improve its already top-level speed suit. The new Sanremo 4.0 Speed Suit is an even faster speed suit that provides extra comfort to the racer who must push his body to the limits. Castelli used wind-tunnel testing and pro-rider input to find how to make the speed suit faster. New fabrics have been used in the Sanremo 4.0 to increase aerodynamic advantages and for better moisture management. In essence, these new fabrics make a racing cyclist faster and they wick sweat instantly so he stays dry and can focus on his race efforts. On front and sleeves, Velocity Rev2 fabric has a honeycomb-like layered appearance made by warp knitting two separate fabrics. This construction creates a smooth aerodynamic surface for air flow and a ventilated porous surface to keep a rider dry. On legs, the Vortex dimpled fabric has no friction making the legs fast. This feat is accomplished by bringing in fast moving air closer to the body, thereby decreasing drag, increasing speed and keeping a rider dry. On the back, 3D mesh is made with three-dimensional fabrics that ventilate, thermo-regulate and repel water. In essence, the mesh keeps you dry and it helps your body maintain the ideal body temperature so you can make those all-out efforts needed in a bike race. The Forza fabric used on the inner legs is abrasion resistant so you pedal comfortably and the short portion doesn’t wear out. On the front, a double V construction keeps the speed suit in place without putting unnecessary compression to the stomach. At the cuffs of the arms and the legs air flows smoothly. Progetto X² Air Seamless seat pad is Castelli’s fastest, most comfortable chamois pad, worn by its sponsored pro-riders who need the protection but don’t need too much bulk interfering with their aerodynamic position. The four-way stretchy microfiber top may be the softest padding you will ever feel. Underneath the skin layer varying densities of padding are placed in just the right locations to protect a rider’s seat area. Padding is thicker where a rider needs the protection while it thins out so as to minimize bulk. Perforated viscous padding is the extra padding needed and placed under the highly sensitive ischial and perineum pressure areas to keep you comfortable on those epic long rides and races. The seat pad is also well ventilated so you stay dry and avoid riding on a clammy seat. The pockets have also been improved. They are narrower for better aerodynamics and Castelli made them easier to access by reducing 3 small pockets into 2 big pockets.
