Castelli Sanremo 4.1 Speed Suit

The Castelli Sanremo 4.1 Speed Suit is the cream of the crop in race suits. The Sanremo is as aerodynamic as a time trial suit, yet more comfortable and designed with practical features such as rear pockets. These additions create a much more versatile aerodynamic speed suit that can be worn in time trials, criteriums, and long endurance rides. Invented in 2011, Castelli has improved the Sanremo by using the expertise and input of racers who finished with wins at World Tour races. These racers shared their views on what was comfortable and fast and what small changes they needed for complete perfection. Castelli also developed new ways to test. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind-tunnel testing helped to make the Sanremo 4.1 Speed Suit even faster and amazingly more comfortable. Its comfort is thanks to a series of fabrics that keep a racer dry when riding at a high intensity in warm weather. These same fabrics also fit the body perfectly. The lower portion of the suit is based off Castelli’s Free Aero Race 4 Bib Short, the number one Castelli bib short choice made by pro racers who are sponsored by Castelli. Vortex dimpled fabric on the side panels creates a smooth aerodynamic surface and it supports muscles with just the right amount of compression. Forza fabric on inner legs with 38% Lycra® provides shorts that won’t get hung up on the saddle. The material fits almost like a second skin; no loose material rubs against your skin. The Progetto X2 Air Seamless set pad is Castelli’s best chamois pad. It protects skin against chafing with a seamless four-way microfiber surface. Padding has varying thicknesses; in areas you need most protection the padding is thickest, yet it tapers down. The cyclist clothed in Castelli’s speed suit is protected on long epic rides with minimal bulk. The GIRO4 leg gripper distributes the gripper elastic over a larger area so the shorts stay in place without chafing and with a much flatter aero surface. The pockets have been made narrower for better aerodynamics. In order to provide more space, three small pockets have been replaced with two wider pockets.
