Castelli Velocissimo Bib Short - 2016

Castelli’s best-selling short, the Velocissimo Bib Short has all the features that live up to its name. The nine-panel anatomic construction, sublimation GIRO3 leg grippers, Castelli’s amazingly comfortable KISS Air seat pad, and a new waistband construction for extra comfort are top of the list of qualities the Velocissimo offers to the cyclist who wants to feel good when he rides fast. Constructed with the 210 gram Affinity fabric, the bib shorts have an instant stretch and rebound which means the shorts fit perfectly no matter what position you move on the bike. Velocissimo means really fast in Italian which is why Castelli emphasized the design to ensure perfect rider fit. The Velocissimo’s fabric is breathable and it wicks away sweat. The bib straps are made with a mesh fabric that feels light and stays dry. When designing the waistband, Castelli kept in mind the different body shapes. As an upgrade for the 2016 Velocissimo Bib Short, the new Doppio waistband has extra stretch so when leaned over, the rider has no restrictions in the center of the body. The elastic leg grips are made with a sublimated GIRO3 leg band that keeps the shorts in place without gripping the skin. When describing a short’s comfort, the chamois pad must be mentioned. Castelli’s KISS Air seat pad is designed to fit the shape of the riding body. The thickest padding is placed in the ischial zone, the area of the body that receives the most pressure against the saddle. The padding tapers to moderate thickness on the perineum and minimum thickness at the perimeter. This design provides the rider with a pair of bib shorts that protect against the bumps of the road without excessive padding to get in the way.
