In order to provide a top level mountain bike racing shoe, SIDI used the riding expertise of the pros Julien Absalon and Nino Schurter to perfect the SIDI Drako SRS Carbon Mountain Bike Shoes. SIDI designers shed 100 grams off the previous soles without sacrificing the stiffness, shock absorption and durability required to support a racer on course. The lightweight medium-modulus carbon sole provides a rider shock absorption on off-road terrain while still having the stiffness needed to ensure maximum leg power is transferred to the pedals. A mountain biker will feel the race quality of these mountain bike soles as he jumps over obstacles that would stop a less daring cyclist. Mountain biking takes its toll on a rider and his equipment so SIDI designed the Drako MTB shoe so that the areas that receive the most beating can be replaced. Shoe longevity is provided in the replaceable mountain bike plate designed to prevent sole damage from pedal contact. SIDI recommends using a reinforced plate between the cleat and the shoe so as to prevent cracking or denting the sole. Yet, if a racer does not want to add any more weight, the MTB plate can be replaced if there is damage from the pedal system. For more grip, the sole is toe-spike compatible. Finding the right fit is easy to do thanks to the adjustment system designed into the Drako. Between your thumb and forefinger, with a simple twist, the monofilament buckle on the single tecno-3 push system allows a rider to adjust just-the-right tension between the shoe’s internal and external side and all along the foot. If pushed, the buckle lifts and the shoe opens. This system is also serviceable and replaceable. Another replaceable feature is the Soft Instep Closure System, a wide, anatomically curved strap with a soft thermo-formed EVA pad that creates a system that distributes pressure evenly as you are tightening or loosening the buckle. This feature centers the EVA pad over a high or low instep and it eliminates the need for a High Instep Extender. The Adjustable Heel Retention Device closes the back of the shoe around the rider’s heel so the foot stays in place and the heel doesn’t slide out on steep climbs or leaps over obstacles. The device can be adjusted by turning the screws towards the + sign for tightening and – sign for loosening. This device is also replaceable. The shoes are made with an eco-friendly leather microfiber that is water repellant, anti-mildew, durable and very comfortable.
